Hi! I'm Mike McRedmond, I am a strict constitutionalists that wants to be your humble servant in Congress.
I joined the U.S. Air Force in 1983 and served for 22 years as an enlisted electronics repair troop. My family has a tradition of serving this country. I received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for Operation Southern Watch, my father served in Vietnam and my son is a member of the Air Force reserve.
After serving in the Air Force, I worked seven years for the Boeing Company maintaining the Global Position Satellite System (GPS). I currently work as a computer security professional at the US Air Force Warfare Center.
I am married and the father of two children. My son, along with serving in the Air Force, is a student at Pikes Peak Community College. My daughter is a student at Skyview Middle School.
I received my bachelor’s degree in Information System Management from the University of Maryland University College. It is remarkable what the internet has accomplished over the past thirty years. Free market competition has given us smart phones more powerful than the main frame computers I worked on in 1984. We can now shop at our finger tips from the comfort of our homes. We have video-on-demand when we want what we want. Free market capitalism brought you these wonders. Free market competition benefits consumers. Free markets work.
When I joined the military, I swore an oath to defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. I still hold to that oath today. The constitution is a contract created by the people giving the government very limited powers. This power exists to protect life, liberty, and property. The powers, not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, are reserved to the States or to the People.
I firmly believe the constitution provides us with only one way for war and that is to formally declare it. The military is not a police force. Its purpose is to break things not to put it back together. To date, we have spent over $4 trillion dollars on the war in the Middle East. With over 4000 dead, many broken bodies and minds, what is our return on investment? Let me ask you, is the Middle East more or less stable today? Will throwing another trillion dollars at it make it more stable? How about another ten years? Nation building does not work.
We have unelected federal bureaucracies that have the power to create law, to fine and imprison people. The EPA steps out of bounds when it declares a pond on private property navigable waters. Why do agencies like US Fish & Wildlife Service, the EPA, the FDA and the BLM have SWAT teams?
Since the creation of the Department of Education in 1979 under the Carter Administration, test scores have steadily decline. This experiment has failed, time to end it. It is the responsibility and the duty of congress to clamp down on these agencies. They have failed to do so. Most of these bureaucratic functions need to be kicked back to the state.
Today, our government is too big, spends too much, and tries to do too much. I want to reduce the size and scope of government. I want to reduce regulation to enable small business. I want to decrease taxes so that I can return what rightfully belongs to you.
I fully understand the sacrifices made by the military community in regards to their health and families.
I appreciate their oath to defend the constitution. I made that oath. I'm no oath breaker. I feel the only party that truly represents the ideals of our founding fathers and the U.S. Constitution for which we all sacrificed is the Libertarian Party. I promise you if it is not in the Constitution, I will not vote for it. I will vote for Liberty.
Are you tired of voting for Republicans because they betray their promises to limit government?
Are you tired of voting for Democrats because they betray your civil liberties?
If so please consider voting Libertarian, I will defend your natural rights.
Thank you for considering me. I would love your support.
Your humble servant,
